The vegetative and reproductive development of balansa clover (PDF 1.8 MB)
Research Overview
For his PhD studies Dave conducted experiments with balansa clover (Trifolium michelianum) to develop best management practices to ensure the production and persistence of this annual clover in grazed pasture systems. To achieve this it was necessary to gain an understanding of its key growth and development characteristics in both a monoculture and a grass based pasture. The timing and rate of the phenological stages of balansa clover (germination, emergence, leaf appearance, flowering and seed maturity) were defined and the pattern of seedling recruitment over time was described. Dr Derrick Moot, Mr Dick Lucas and Dr Warwick Scott supervised Dave.
Dave is a research horticulturist focusing on citrus production with the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) in Australia.
