Strategies to improve sheep liveweight gain on dryland tall fescue swards in Canterbury (PDF unavailable)
Research Overview
Brian quantified spring liveweight production from sheep grazing eight different dryland tall fescue based pastures at Lincoln University. The LWt and DM yield and pasture quality of four pastures was determined. Pastures had either ‘Advance’ or ‘Flecha’ tall fescue established with either white or subterranean clover as the companion legume. There were two soil fertility levels (high or low) underlying each pasture treatment. The project was supervised by Dr Alistair Black and Dr Jim Moir.
