Growth and development of spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) grown under different nitrogen, phosphorus, and CO2 levels

Research Overview

Hamish will quantify the effects of nitrogen and phosphorus deficiencies on the growth and development of wheat grown under ambient (410 ppm) and elevated (760 ppm) CO2 levels. The focus is on explaining the physiological mechanisms behind any yield responses, which includes quantifying phenological development, green leaf area and thus light interception, photosynthesis, and carbon partitioning. He is supervised by Prof. Moot and Dr Emmanuel Chakwizira from Plant & Food Research.
