RADE – Regenerative Agriculture Dryland Experiment

The Lincoln University Dryland Pastures Research Group invites you to the RADE Annual Public Field Day

The RADE is a long-term (6 year), experiment comparing regenerative (RA) and conventional (CA) dryland farmlets at two fertility levels (Olsen P 10 and 20).

Topics covered will include:

  • Sheep production
  • Dry matter yield and botanical composition changes in Years 1 and 2
  • Grazing management
  • Soil fertility
  • Soil moisture and demonstration of measurements being taken

Meet at: the Lincoln University Field Research Centre (before walking to the experimental area)

At: 1 pm Tuesday 10 December

Please bring a sunhat and appropriate footwear. Water and sunscreen will be available.

Background:

The RADE has five Latin square designed blocks and covers 8 ha. Routine measurements include: sheep liveweight production, dry matter yield, botanical composition, soil fertility, soil moisture. Additional measurements include Greenseeker and UAV based NDVI, light interception, leaf area index, seedling recruitment and root biomass.

Parking and meeting location:

Parking is available in the Orchard carpark via Gate 3 on Springs Road
Walk to the meeting area (FRC carpark). Attendees will then walk approx. 0.7 km to the experimental site departing the meeting area at 1 pm
