State of spring sown lucerne during the establishment phase prior to the first graze

These videos, taken on 25 Jan, we look at the state of a newly established – spring sown – dryland lucerne stand. In the first video Derrick discusses the state of the young lucerne at about 80-90 days after sowing as we prepare for the first graze/cut now flower buds are visible. There is also discussion about annual weeds in establishing lucerne – in particular fathen (approx 3 mins).

In the second video, also taken on 25 Jan, Derrick talks about controlling Californian thistle in lucerne. In this case a patch of this problematic perennial weed has popped up in our establishing lucerne stand but the control methods discussed also apply to established stands where you want to control this weed and prolong stand life (approx 3 mins).
