Edouard Lorrain

Intern 2024

Overview

Kia Ora,

I’m Edouard, a 19-year-old French student from UniLaSalle Beauvais, a French agronomy engineering school. I had the opportunity to do an internship with the DPR Group from mid-November 2024 until the end of January 2025, working on a wheat trial alongside Derrick, Mariana, Thinzar, Zoong, and Yanny. This project aimed to optimize nitrogen use to maximize wheat yields in New Zealand.

Working at the FRC (Field Research Center) was an incredibly enriching experience. I was able to learn so much from everyone, from technicians to academics, not only about agronomy but also about New Zealand’s culture. I could also improve my scientific English, as we would regularly share our projects during morning tea, field days, and lunchtime discussions.

The people at the FRC were truly welcoming, and you should never feel bored there. You would also have time to travel around the country, which is something you must do! I was lucky enough to take a three-week road trip around Christmas and New Year, and it turned out to be the best trip ever.

I am very grateful for this opportunity and would like to thank the DPR group for welcoming me so warmly and for all the great moments we shared.
