Growth and development of three subterranean clover cultivars and their tolerance of herbicide application

Research Overview

Alec is quantifying the growth and development of subterranean clover cultivars ‘Denmark’, ‘Wooggenullup’ and ‘Whatawhata’ for dryland production at Ashley Dene. The development of new cultivars for dryland systems is critical to sustain viable returns from sheep and beef systems with ‘Whatawhata’ being evaluated for the New Zealand context. In addition to the cultivars yield potential and phenological development its ability to tolerate autumn/winter herbicide application for the control of broadleaf and grass weeds will be assessed. Alec is supervised by Prof. Derrick Moot.
